A Quick Day Trip

The plan was to get away from SLO, school, homework and stress, and spend the day in nature in Sequoia National Park. We were going to do some hiking and sightseeing, and marvel at the beauty of nature. Not until the night before did one of us realize that the roads leading into Sequoia were, in fact, closed because of road work.

Instead, of not doing anything with our Saturday, we decided to head south to Santa Barbara for a nice little get away :)

Our first stop was a cute cafe called Savoy, where we ate some delicious French Toast, Quiche, and Tofu Scramble (with the best toast ever). It was so good, and we had coffee and chai tea to help wake us up a little. (Update: The straws were biodegradable!!!! No harming the environment on our watch).

Note: Most of these pictures were not taken by me!

We spent most of our day tooling around boutiques, consignment shops, and stores to look for new finds and spice up our wardrobes a bit, while simultaneously enjoying the Hispanic style architecture, and our one-day vacay. We took a little break after shopping, ate some Pressed Juicery "soft-serve," and saw that there was a giant Jenga, so naturally we decided to play a game. It was the most intense game of Jenga any of us had ever played. Maybe it's because we were mostly comprised of engineers, but our structure was so stable that we couldn't play anymore because there weren't enough blocks and the game lasted more than 20 minutes!

LOOK AT THAT STRUCTURE! The game wasn't even close to being over at this point either!

After our insane game, we needed to use the restroom (we are human after all), and found a nice niche to take some cute pictures. So, pretending to be "Instagram models" we took a few pictures.

By this time we were happy but exhausted, so we started making our way back to the car. On our drive home we belted show tunes and Disney songs, and appreciated our short drive along the coast before arriving back in good ol' SLO.

Some of us (me) had less energy than the pack lol

It was a short trip, but many memories were made, cute clothes were bought, and good food was consumed. Honestly, I couldn't have imagined anything better from our impromptu day trip! 😊

P.S. Here is me taking impromptu pictures of my friends... and Reagan still looks beautiful.
